      Oh yes – there are 100s of types of cancer cell. That’s what makes cancer so difficult to treat. Cancer that starts in different organs will be different types of cells – e.g. lung cancer cells, breast cancer cells, brain cancer cells. But then it’s even more complicated, because depending which type of, for example brain cell, the cancer starts in will give a different type of cancer cell. And then because everyone has different variations in their genes – that also means that a breast cancer cell from one person might be completely different to a breast cancer cell in another patient. It is very complicated but we are starting to understand the differences between all the different types of cancer cell.
