0 Question: What colour are chloroplasts? Keywords: chloroplasts, colour cell Asked by smokeybacon2000 to Alexis, Dr D, Helen, Jasmine, Mario on 17 Jun 2013.
Alexis Barr answered on 17 Jun 2013:
Green! Chloroplasts are green because they contain a chemical call Chlorophyll that absorbs all the colours in visible light except green, which it reflects. So they look green. This is also why (most) plants are green.

Green! It’s the pigment chlorophyll that does that.
