Im trying to discover the role of a protein in the cell. This protein, called Diaphanous, is part of the cytoskeleton, the ‘skeleton’ and ‘muscles’ of the cell. We think that Diaphanous controls how rigid or soft the cytoskeleton becomes, and if it doesn’t work properly, the cell fails to divide normally (because it cannot stretch to become two new daughter cells) and accumulates errors inside (for example, having two nucleus instead of only one). I would love to find more details on this process!
